This is a much more developed idea of my front cover just without any added sell lines but you're able to see how much development on my previous ideas have come through, the main image is how id want it to be as It displays the way I want people to see my artist, the splash for the artists name is a display of how I want my text to be formatted through the sell lines. More development is needed on my PUG as the purple clashes with the red and greys. Overall the progress made for the magazine I'm happy with.

My second draft I have re-designed both the footer and the header and put a new colour lay out for the design. The white back ground allows for a more darker approach to the text which will need experimenting on to see if it will fit with my main image. The blue gradient adds a more professional effect to the cover but it may overwhelm any additional light colours so may result in a new change again. The font for my mast head has changed also but it seems a bit plain but at the moment it may stay the same so I can play around with different font sizes.

The first initial idea of my music magazine cover is piecing itself together, I'm currently experimenting with the different fonts to see which one is much more appealing and I'm also deciding on whether I want to keep the white background around the masthead and the red boarder. I like the grey gradient as it creates contrast and allows for lighter texts to be seen, but it's still something I am currently contemplating on having. I still have my image to add and my sell lines.

Logo

For the logo I wanted to decide on something that relates to a school and my title 'Education. I drafted my first magazine as shown in previous blog posts and decided to keep the same logo as before but I have enhanced it to a more realistic look. For this I used photo shop and got the image of a photo then uses the text tool to get my letter E. once I had these two, I layered them and put the pencil in the position I wanted it to be in. this then progressed into removing sections of the 'E' to give the appearance of it moving through the letter.

Pug

for my pug I wanted to include something that related to an aspect of the school that it excels in and from my experience of being in the school I believe this is music at it represents the school nearly every half term with concerts and a final big show at the end of the year when the music and drama department come together. I used the yellow background and black outling with text as they are the representative colours of the school. I chose orchestra and choir also as they are the clubs that anyone from any year can join although you need to play an instrument for orchestra.



Front Cover Final Design

My final design came together and I think for the first attempt it went better than I expected. the colour scheme consists of mainly black and yellow to represent the colours of the school. the main image I chose was of a sixth form student which is what I had intentionally prepared on my draft cover when I was sketching up ideas. my subsidiary images have changed as I took photos that showed sixth form students settling into the school with 'new times' and what the expectations for sixth form life is like. I added a couple more sell lines for the magazine to really try and sell the magazine readers/audience. The Masthead name has been kept the same as I still think it represents the school and what it is there to offer which co-sides with what the magazine is there to do. my footer is a simple yellow design to keep fit to the colour scheme and within the footer bar I have stated a fact about the magazine to again, try to further entice readers. I chose a gradient colour scheme for the background to add a bit more coloured contrast to the magazine  but keeping with the colour scheme that I planned on using, the gradient colour also adds more depth to the magazine so It doesn't look majorly simplistic and plain therefore being a bit more appealing. My splash has also changed since my draft as I thought a better title to have would be one that is much more relatable to a majority of the audience who would read the magazine. when doing my music magazine cover I would use a more varied range of colour on the sell lines to really push the effects of my cover to really grasp the attention of the readers viewing it. I could also scale my main image differently to cover up any more dead space within the cover which would also allow for a grid layout to put my subsidiary images in a more fitted, neat layout format to once again make it more appealing.
